The
Photograph is chosen for composition and then converted
into grayscale for tonal value, and then
rough sketched onto the drawing surface. It is then
drawn in with either graphite professional drawing
pencils or professional grade oil pastels on acid
free illustration board or pastel board.
Things to keep in mind when taking photographs
Photographs of your pet are
sent by mail or e-mail and the best photograph representing
your pet is chosen. Photographs need to be good quality
that are in focus and close enough to show detail
for the artist to draw from. Email images need to
be a large enough resolution to see detail. Several photographs can be included
to achieve this. When taking photographs, remember
to take the photograph on your companion animals level,
otherwise the portrait will be as if you are looking
down at them and they are looking up at you - unless
that is how you want it to look.
Horses in particular are hard to photograph
as they are easily distorted and they end up looking
like aardvarks!
